This past week, the Dynamics Online staff and a few of our friends gathered for a fun night that included dinner at Benihana of Beachwood followed by desserts and blackjack back at the office:

Happy Thanksgiving from Dynamics Online!
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011All of us at Dynamics Online want to wish you and your loved ones a happy, fun, and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. We have a lot to be thankful for this year, but the one thing I am thankful for this morning is Google’s cool Thanksgiving themed Google Doodle. Google has been getting creative with it’s holiday logos on their homepage. This Thanksgiving you are able to create your own customized hand turkey and share it with others, just like you did as a kid. Our turkey is in the photo above. To create your own, visit the Google homepage. Then, head over to the Dynamics Online Facebook page and share your creation with us!
(PS – Don’t go too crazy shopping on Black Friday, as an Internet agency we would be remiss if we didn’t remind you that Cyber Monday is just around the corner!)
From the Archives: Bruce Newburger on ‘Computer Chronicles’
Monday, September 19th, 2011We recently came across a blast from our past in the form of a 1990 episode of the long running television program ‘Computer Chronicles.’ See if you can spot a familiar face:
Yep, that’s our own Bruce Newburger in his pre-Dynamics Online days. We asked Bruce to recount his experience on the show:
“I appeared on Computer Chronicles TV show in 1990 on an episode about object-oriented programming. That was a popular buzzword that was used to describe a new breed of programming languages that encourage the encapsulation of program functionality so it could be easily reused without reprogramming. I understand that over time, this methodology was adopted into mainstream programming, but the languages that pioneered it did not survive.
I was representing my employer at the time, The Whitewater Group, and demonstrated our programming language called Actor. In 1987, I was the third employee, and worked there until 1992, when the company was sold to Symantec. At various times, I managed the sales, support, training and documentation departments. I travelled throughout the US and to Europe and Australia to meet our distributors, demonstrate our products and run week-long training courses to professional programmers. It was a great introduction to technology product marketing!”

Meet the Dynamics Online Staff: Bruce Newburger, President
Tuesday, September 13th, 2011Hi, I’m Bruce Newburger, founder and President of Dynamics Online. I started Dynamics Online way back in 1997, the early days of the “World Wide Web.” As the Internet has evolved, so have we, into a full service Internet design and marketing firm.
In addition to managing the business, I still do a lot of hands on production work, including web programming, and managing email marketing, design, and tracking with our email marketing partner Vertical Response.
I spend a lot of my working day online helping our clients, but I do enjoy spending time “offline” as well. Here are some more facts about me:
- Prior to starting Dynamics Online, I worked for 3 other tech companies inclucing Overdrive.com and Dynamacs.com (one of our oldest clients).
- I received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University.
- Although we are both originally from the Cleveland area, I met Lisa, my wife of 20 years, while we were both living in Chicago.
- I am the proud father of 2 kids. My daughter is currently in her freshman year at Bowling Green State University studying to be a math teacher, and my son is enjoying his time at Solon High School.
- I enjoy watching my son perform in a variety of plays at FPAC, Beachwood Community Theater, and Solon High School.
- My passion for fixing things and making things work does not end with websites. I also enjoy a good home improvement project, including rebuilding my deck and keeping my lawnmower running strong for more than 19 years!
- I am an avid participant in any activity that is social and good exercise, including tennis, biking, and skiing (both downhill & cross country).
- I help and support my wife with her business Discuss Directives as she is looking to change the world by helping people make serious issues and decision making more comfortable.
- Musically right now I am enjoying the college rock music of the 1980s (R.E.M, Talking Heads).
- I am proud of the work of Dynamics Online, and the strong relationship we have with our clients, including several from out first year of business: Ohio Venture Association, Dynamacs, Diabetic Promotions, Drs Hill and Thomas, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and Pierre’s Ice Cream.
If you want to know more about me, what I do, or simply want to schedule a pick up tennis match, email me at bruce@dynamicsus.com or connect with me on LinkedIn.
Meet the Dynamics Online Staff: Keith Mayer, Director of Search Engine Marketing
Friday, September 9th, 2011Hi, Keith here. I’m the director of Search Engine Optimization at Dynamics Online. If you want to improve your website’s performance on search engines, I’m the one to talk to. Here are some facts you might not know about me:
- I have been with Dynamics Online since 2008.
- I’m married to my beautiful wife Kristy.
- I’m a father to 5 month old Kacey and 2 year old Mac (he’s our 95 lb brown baby):
- I enjoy working around the house.
- I enjoy going to breakfast with the whole fam, yes Mac even comes too (we site outside at Panera or Yours Truly).
- I enjoy playing Fantasy Football (I won my league last year. How does losing feel, Tim?)
- I enjoy walking with Mac every morning at 5:30am.
- I went to Bowling Green State University. Go Falcons!
- My favorite ice cream is chocolate & my favorite cookie is chocolate chip.
- I’m very laid back and try not to stress out about anything.
That’s just the tip of the Keith iceberg. You can learn more about who I am & what I do by shooting me an email me at keith@dynamicsus.com or connecting with me on LinkedIn. I am always up for a good sports debate (just ask Kirk!)
Meet the Dynamics Online Staff: Kirk Hiner, E-Commerce Solutions Manager
Thursday, September 8th, 2011I’m Kirk Hiner, and I’m currently e-commerce solutions manager at Dynamics Online. I say “currently,” because my title has changed a few times since I started with the company in January of 1999. As web technology grows and the needs of our customers change, we grow and change with them. As such, if you’re ready to expand to online sales, I’m the fellow with whom you’ll be working (although you’re also likely to hear from me if your needs include web video/audio formatting, hosting, or just general site construction and maintenance).
When I’m not sitting at my desk at Dynamics Online, I’m likely to found at my desk at home working on articles for Appletell.com (an Apple-centric news/review/feature site for which I’m editor-in-chief, managing a staff of over 15 writers worldwide), or writing my next novel or play. My wife, Tieraney, and three kids–Sophie (7), Sam (5) and Max (0.1)–keep me quite busy, as well.
Amidst all of this work, I have managed to get some other things done and have some fun. For example:
- Although I’ve lived in Ohio most of my life, I spent five years in New York City after graduating college, living most of it right off of Times Square on 44th and Broadway.
- I earned by B.S. from Ohio Northern University, where I co-founded, wrote for, directed and acted in the comedy troupe “…just because.”
- I published the novel “Mowin’ the Heavenly Lawn” (look me up at Amazon).
- My play “Spoon Millionaires” premiered at Lima Play Fair in 2006. I’ve since learned that plays with a cast of 11 tend to be frowned upon if they don’t involve singing or cats dancing.
- I enthusiastically support the Seattle Seahawks (I’m a member of and manage the website for midwestseahawkers.com) and Minnesota Wild (that’s a hockey team, for those of you in the Cleveland area). As Browns and Indians fans understand, not all of us support the teams we do for need of championships.
- I’m such a huge fan of Queen that when Freddie Mercury died I received sympathy cards.
That’s probably enough. If you have any questions about web technologies or strategies, you can reach me at kirk@dynamicsus.com or on LinkedIn. I’m also always happy to talk about sword fighting skeletons or giant flying turtle movies, but I’ve found the demographic for such conversations to be quite small (and kind of weird).
